Peekskill

Lynn Fischbeck of Peekskill, N.Y. passed away on November 29th at the age of 69 after battling a prolonged illness. Born on October 29th, 1952, to George and Loretta (Hurley) Barney, Lynn spent her formative years in Stamford, Connecticut graduating from Sacred Heart Academy in 1970 as valedictorian. She was salutatorian of the class of 1974 at Stonehill College, and then went on to receive her masters degree and her certificate of advanced standing in the field of psychology from Fairfield University. Lynn practiced as a school psychologist in the Tuckahoe schools for 28 years before retiring in 2009, after which she continued  to serve as a child advocate.

Always the consummate professional with a keen wit and unreserved compassion for those she endeavored to help, Lynn took pride in her work, placing the needs of the children above all else.

Lynn met her husband, Lloyd, while attending Stonehill College. They were married on June 26th, 1976, at St. Maurice’s Church in Stamford and then moved to New York. They relocated to Peekskill in 1983 after the birth of their son Andrew, where she resided for the remainder of her life. Lynn was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend.

Lynn loved to read and found no greater pleasure than roaming around a bookstore or library. She enjoyed old movies, live theater, travel adventures, and great restaurants. She cherished her friends and family and loved to laugh.

Lynn was predeceased by her parents and her favorite four legged companion, Spikey. She is survived by her husband, Lloyd, her son, Andrew, her best friend and sister, Tracy Barney, and a brother, Joseph (Ann) Barney.
