Lloyd Nelson passed away peacefully on Sunday April 24th, 2022 in the comfort of his home in Thornwood, NY at the age of 66. He was born in White Plains, NY on May 4th, 1955. He is survived by his daughters Kristen and Elke, sisters Carolyn and Irene, brother Clifford, nephew Frankie, and his cat Clementine.
Lloyd enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. His most cherished memories were ones spent outdoors with his loved ones. Walks to the village with his mother, fishing trips with his father, and beach day picnics with his family were some of Lloyd’s favorite ways to spend his childhood. Many of his summers were spent in Norway where he visited his relatives and spent time on the farm. He enjoyed a nice swim in the reservoir with his dog Susie in his hometown. Following the footsteps of his father, Lloyd had a successful career in carpentry and construction work which led to a passion for craftsmanship. He belonged to the Carpenters Local Union 279. Throughout Lloyd’s adult life he crafted handmade picnic tables, decks, footstools, napkin holders, animal pens, a clubhouse, and a swing set for his two daughters. Sleigh riding, fishing, and rides in the back of the pickup truck are among the many memories he shared with his daughters. He took a strong interest in birds and the wildlife that crossed his path in the backyard. Lloyd had a special place in his heart for his household pets. The Nelson home always had feline friends. Lloyd welcomed the wandering stray cats, Pretty, Bootsy, Gustav, Honey, Pumpkin, and Renne with open arms. Daisy, Red, Pinky, Sugar, Spice and Clementine, the house cats, also played a loving role in Lloyd’s life. Lloyd was truly one of a kind with his no nonsense attitude and great sense of humor. He will be missed greatly by those that knew him.
