Laurence (Larry) V. Desimone

Laurence (Larry) Desimone 77, of Hawthorne, N.Y. , after a short but valiant fight against cancer, completed his life’s journey on March 18, 2022, peacefully at home with his family at his side. He was born on Dec.29,1944 in the Bronx, N.Y. He was predeceased by his parents, Victor and Caroline (Moeckel) Desimone. He is survived by his soulmate of 55 years, Ruth Desimone;  his sons, Beau (Valerie) Desimone, Scott Desimone, and Daniel (Kristina) Desimone; and his grandchildren Nicole and Michael Desimone. He touched many lives through his volunteerism in many organizations, especially the Hawthorne Fire Department where he served for 40 years as a firefighter, EMT, Chief, Commissioner, Vice President, and Chaplain. He also volunteered as a Scout Master in Elmsford and coached Mt. Pleasant AYSO soccer. He served as Fire Marshall for the Town of Greenburgh after retiring from his construction business of over 25 years. He founded and served as President of the Westchester Fire Marshalls Association until 2022, and served as a member of the Greenburgh (CERT) Community Emergency Response Team. The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful help, care and comfort given at the end of his journey. His warm heart and quick wit will be missed by all his friends and family.

Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Monday, 4-8 PM and Tuesday, 3-8 PM. Funeral Mass, Holy Rosary Church, Hawthorne, N.Y. on Wednesday, 10 AM. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y.
