Kim Costello

Surrounded by love, Kim Costello, beloved wife of Michael Costello and loving mother to Thomas and John Costello, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025 at the age of 58. Kim was born on May 27, 1966 and was raised on City Island, the Bronx, NY. City Island remained forever close to Kim's heart, even after she settled in Westchester to raise her family.

Kim's life was a testament to compassion, kindness, fun, and above all, unwavering devotion to her family. Kim shared a deep and enduring love with her husband, Mike (Cos), and they built a beautiful life and home filled with warmth for their sons, Thomas and John.

As a mother to Thomas and John, Kim guided, nurtured and supported them with unwavering love. Kim lived each day with her children at the center. Whether it was cheering from the sidelines of a big game or a quiet everyday moment, Kim showed up with enthusiasm and steadfast devotion. Her children never had to wonder if she was proud of them - her presence and encouragement made it abundantly clear.

Kim loved to make her home the heart of every holiday and she welcomed family and friends with open arms, filling her home with the sound of laughter of those she loved. With her knack for making every guest feel welcome, Kim made holidays and milestones unforgettable and created lasting memories that will live on in the hearts of all who shared in them.

Kim was a lifelong lover of books, always finding joy and inspiration within their pages. While Kim had an appreciation for stories of every kind, true crime was her favorite. Kim also had an incredible gift for matching people with the perfect story - friends and family often turned to her for book recommendations, knowing she would suggest something meaningful, moving, or just what they needed. Just as she connected deeply with words, Kim also had a lifelong love for animals. From her childhood pets to her family's beloved dog Dooley, Kim's heart was as open to animals as it was to people, and both found comfort in her presence.

In addition to being beautiful, smart, kind, loving and generous, Kim had an amazing sense of humor that brought lightness and laughter to those around her. She was quick-witted, sharp in the best way, and had a laugh that could lift a room. Kim's ability to find humor in everyday life - and to share it with a perfect sense of timing - was a gift to everyone who knew her.

With all of her beautiful qualities - her kindness, humor, generosity and warmth - Kim was also deeply determined. With remarkable drive and self-reliance, Kim put herself through both Mercy College and Fordham University's Master's Degree program. Kim's natural selflessness and compassion made her a devoted and inspiring special education teacher at H.C. Crittenden Middle School in the Byram Hills School District. For 26 years, Kim poured her heart into creating a classroom where every student felt understood, supported, and capable of reaching their full potential. Kim taught her students with enthusiasm, creativity and unwavering dedication, always celebrating every step forward with them. Teaching was more than a profession to Kim - it was a calling, and her impact will live on in the many lives she so deeply touched.

Kim was a truly remarkable woman - compassionate, strong and full of light. She was a magnificent wife, an incredible mother, a wonderful daughter, and a loyal friend. Her absence leaves a profound void, but the love she gave and the life she lived will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, and her legacy of love, kindness and strength will live on.

Kim was predeceased by her father, Martin Laurich, and is survived by her husband, Michael Costello, her two sons, Thomas and John Costello, her mother Judy Laurich, her Aunt Carolyn and Uncle John Corona, her cousin Danielle Mula and niece and nephew Cori and Nicholas Dravecky, along with countless friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request donations be made to either Burke Rehabilitation Center or Regional Hospice of Danbury in Kim's name.
