In Loving Memory of June Delores Castleberry

June Delores Castleberry, affectionately known by family and friends as Aunt Babe, Baby June, Miss Castleberry, and Mother Castleberry, peacefully departed this life after 84 years in the Fairview section of Greenburgh. She was known and loved by generations of children whose lives she touched as a babysitter, daycare provider, Sunday School teacher, mentor, and friend. 1

June was a generous and kind-hearted woman who deeply loved her family, friends, and community. If you were fortunate enough to be part of her circle, chances are you enjoyed one of her famous pound cakes or beautifully decorated party cakes, each made with love and care. 1

A devoted woman of faith, June was an active and faithful church member who participated in the choir, Sunday School, and Bible study. Her commitment to serving others reflected the values she lived every day. She was also a dedicated member of the Senior Citizens Group at the Theodore Young Community Center, where she enjoyed daily fellowship and treasured the friendships she formed there. She greatly appreciated the staff members who cared for her and helped keep her connected to the community she loved. 1

As a single parent, June raised her children, Sharon and Troy, to love God, cherish family, and serve their community. Like their mother, they were known and loved by many. Although Sharon and Troy preceded her in death, June's faith never wavered. She remained confident that they would one day be reunited in God's eternal presence. 1

The family is especially proud that June was recently honored by the Town of Greenburgh for her contributions as a childcare provider. Her small in-home daycare service helped lay the foundation for what became the Lois Bronz Children's Center, originally known as the Union Child Day Care Center. Her legacy of nurturing children continues to impact the community today. 1

June was preceded in death by her parents, June and Libby Castleberry; her sisters, Paralee Cook and Ruthie Castleberry; and her brother-in-law, Charles Cook. 1

She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved nieces: Katherine Graham, Anita (Felton) Gholston, Delores (George) Harris, and Debra Castleberry, Marc(Paula) Cook, Woody Pascal, Donna Renee Mandella; her grand nieces and nephews; Duane (Yesenia) Castleberry, Benjamin, Avery, Roderick Jr., Marcel, AJ and great grand nieces and nephews; Sebastyan, Elyas, Jaryah, Olivia, Jeremiah, Markie, Jaida, Joel, Jordan, Skylar along with a host of extended relatives, friends, former daycare children, church family, and community members whose lives she touched. 1

June's life was a testament to faith, service, compassion, and unconditional love. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
