Judy Meyer passed away peacefully on Friday, September 26 at The Chelsea at Greenburgh. She was 96. She was the wife of two wonderful men both WWII veterans. Her first husband Herbert died too young in 1966, and Ted Morse who passed away in 2019. She is survived by her two sons Mitchell, Robert and daughter Annie Abbene, husband Robert, and grandsons Andrew and Thomas.

Judy was a native New Yorker who in her late teens moved to Washington D.C. with her father Isaac Henry Kutz, Mother Clara Kutz and sister Ruth. Both her parents were devoted American citizens. Henry served as an attorney with the Department of Justice and Clara with the copyright division of the Library of Congress. Judy followed their model of community service volunteering to harvest fruit and vegetables during WWII. After graduation from George Washington University, where she majored in American Thought and Civilization, she devoted her life to community service. She was an accomplished nonprofit Public Relations professional with the White Plains Recreation Department, Westchester County Health Department, and the Westchester Chapter of the American Red Cross. Ultimately, she proudly started her own successful Public Relations firm. She always had great respect for the American business community. After retirement she was a devoted volunteer with the White Plains Beautification Foundation, League of Women Voters and helped to establish the local Aging in Place, a valued resource for seniors.

She loved her family and long-term friendships and underdogs. She loved all aspects of venturing into Manhattan, searching for new restaurants and appreciating the arts, especially the theatre. She traveled around the world Europe, Israel, Iceland, and India with Ted (in her late 80’s he 90’s). She had a zest for life and was inexhaustibly curious. She embraced diversity, politics, and stood up for human rights.

Judy was a wonderful hostess, loved parties and wanted to make sure everyone had the opportunity to meet all, especially encouraging new friendships. Judy was always quick to smile her big smile. She will be missed; humanity has lost a friend.

There will be a celebration of her life on Friday, October 10, at Ballard-Durand funeral home in White Plains. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The White Plains Beautification Foundation WPBF PO Box 1614, White Plains, NY 10602.
