Joseph T. Mani left this world peacefully on April 6th, Easter Monday, at the age of 76, surrounded by the quiet comfort of his home in Scarsdale, New York.

Born on January 2nd, 1950, in the beautiful town of Thodupuzha, Kerala, India, Joseph grew up as one of seven siblings in a large, close-knit family filled with love and laughter. With one brother and five sisters, their bond was unbreakable-a foundation of warmth and support that remained strong across oceans and decades. Those early years shaped the man he would become: kind, grounded, and deeply devoted to family.

In 1973, with courage in his heart and hope in his eyes, Joseph immigrated to the United States, leaving behind everything familiar in search of a better life. He built his American dream not through luck, but through sheer determination, hard work, and unwavering integrity. He faced challenges with quiet strength and never lost sight of the values he carried. In 2016, he proudly became a citizen of the United States-a milestone that reflected his appreciation for the country he had come to call home.

A brilliant scholar, Joseph earned his Bachelor of Science from Newman College and his Master's degree in Chemistry from Nirmala College in India. His sharp intellect was matched by a lifelong curiosity and a deep knowledge of history, politics, and the world around him.

After 39 remarkable years of commitment, he retired as Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist from Montefiore Medical Center where his dedication, professionalism, and genuine care touched countless lives. Colleagues and patients alike knew him as a man of excellence and honesty-someone you could always count on. One of his greatest sources of pride was seeing both of his daughters, Linda and Linsa, follow in his footsteps and build their own careers within the same Montefiore family. He could not have been prouder to see them walk a path so closely connected to his own.

Beyond his accomplishments, it was Joseph's heart that made him unforgettable. He had a quiet strength that made you feel safe, a generous spirit that gave without expecting anything in return, and a quick wit that could light up any room with laughter. He was a master storyteller, weaving tales of his childhood in Kerala, his early days in America, and the lessons life had taught him. His laughter was warm and infectious, and his example of living with integrity continues to guide all who knew him.

To his family, he was everything - a devoted father who poured his love into his two daughters, watching them grow with pride and quiet joy. He shared 33 years of marriage with the mother of his children, Thresiamma, with whom he built a life and raised his daughters. He also shared a marriage with Saihonara for 7 years in which he embraced the role of step father to his lovely step daughter Jasmin. He was a loving grandfather to his precious granddaughter, Joslin, whose smile brightened his every day. His deep connections with his siblings, his many nieces and nephews-whom he loved as his own children-and his dear friends spoke to the kind of man he was: loyal, present, and full of love.

Joseph may have left us, but the love he gave, the values he lived by, and the memories he created will live on in our hearts forever. He taught us what it means to live with purpose, to love without condition, and to face life with dignity and grace.

He will be missed deeply, every single day.

Parking lot attendants will be available at the funeral home.

A private cremation will follow the funeral service; the family invites you to join them at the reception afterwards, more information below.

In lieu of gifts, for anyone who would like to donate, this was Joseph's favorite charity—one he supported faithfully every year.

ALPHONSA PAIN & PALLIATIVE CARE CENTRE

Idukki District Kerala, India

In the year 2000, the establishment of the Alphonsa Pain and Palliative Care Center was initiated with the primary aim of extending the compassionate and loving care exemplified by Jesus to individuals enduring illness and suffering. Our dedicated sisters provide comprehensive support encompassing physical, mental, spiritual, and social aspects to patients grappling with various terminal illnesses such as cancer and HIV. Through our mission, we are committed to preserving the dignity of those encountering adversity, which includes offering home care services to terminally ill patients. All our services are provided free of charge to those in need, and we take pride in acknowledging the positive impact this center has had on the lives of numerous individuals, facilitating a serene and dignified transition during their final moments. In addition to this, the sisters are conducting Eucharistic adoration in the Perpetual Adoration Chapel of the Palliative Care Center. This gives an opportunity to the Patients and their significant ones to attain mental Peace and harmony.
