Joseph C. Cipriano

Joseph C. Cipriano, age 62, of Ossining, NY peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family on April 20, 2019. Joseph was born to John A. Cipriano and Eileen T. (Curran) Cipriano on April 28, 1956 at Phelps Memorial Hospital in North Tarrytown. He was raised in Irvington, NY. A graduate of Irvington High School, Joseph was known to be a fun loving easy going guy. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and the joy he brought to those around him.

About 15 years ago Joseph moved to Ossining, NY and owned a Carvel Ice Cream Shoppe located in Briarcliff Manor. Joseph was very proud of his shoppe. He would always say, “I have the best job in the world. People come in happy with the expectation of getting ice cream, and they leave smiling with a treat. It is just a happy place to be.”

Joseph enjoyed his Saturdays spending time with friends, working on cars, driving his Corvette, and going to car races or shows. In his younger years he loved to be out on the Hudson River boating and water skiing. What made him the happiest was the time he spent with his beloved daughter, Emilie.

Joseph is survived by his daughter, Emilie L. Volpe and her fiancé, Justin J. Hulbert, brother and sister in law, Stephen J. and Jean Cipriano; niece, Kendra E. Cipriano; and sister, Sister Madeline M. Cipriano, RSM; and was predeceased by his parents John A. Cipriano and Eileen T. (Curran) Cipriano and his brother, John J. Cipriano.

Due to his love and appreciation of the Hudson River family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be sent in memory of Joseph to Riverkeeper, Inc or Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, Inc.

A Memorial Vistitation will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 1-5 PM at the Hawthorne Funeral Home.
