Jose López Álvarez

Jose Lopez Alvarez, a long-time resident of White Plains, NY, passed away on March 20th, 2022, after an extensive hospital stay and courageous battle with respiratory failure. He was born on May 13th, 1931, in Carballal, Spain, a beautiful region of Galicia, the land which he adored. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Lourdes Lopez. He is survived by his sister-in-law Elisabet Perez. He is also survived by his loving children, Digna L Reus, Jose Lopez Jr, and Lourdes Lopez Valle, as well as his loving son-in-law Paul D Paglia. He had four grandchildren whom he adored and brought him great joy Robert C Reus, Stephen M Reus, Victoria D Reus, and Isabella S Valle, as well as his two great-grandchildren, Samantha and Stephen Reus. Jose leaves behind many wonderful friends, including friends in Spain, his best friend of 72 years Alfredo Vizo of Miami Beach, Florida, and his loyal grandpuppy, Lola. Jose was an incredibly skilled and highly talented self-employed mason and contractor whose unique and remarkable artistry beautified many homes, houses of worship, and commercial properties. Jose was a proud American whose strength was admired by many. He had a great sense of humor, was kind, generous, loved telling stories, enjoying good food, wine, espresso, traveling to Spain, dancing, and going to the Senior Center in Mahopac, NY, where he spent a lot of his time. Jose was a vibrant and active man with a spirit and zest for life of someone decades younger in age. He was loved by many, and his legacy will forever live within the hearts of those who were privileged and honored to know and spend time with him.
