John Scarola, age 89, passed away peacefully at his home in Fort Lauderdale, FL, on January 27th, 2022. He was born to Vito and Maria (Pagano) Scarola in New York, NY, and served in the Coast Guard from 1952 to 1955.
In the earlier part of his career, he shared a family ice delivery business in New York City. Thereafter, he obtained his Captains license and started a 20-year career captaining boats between Florida, the Bahamas, and along the east coast. John loved spending time at his home in Southampton, NY, gathering with family and friends, playing golf, boating, trying his luck at the horse races and casino, and pampering his red Triumph TR3 sports car, among other things.
John is survived by his loving partner of 20 years, Lynn Heimgartner and his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in death by his parents, brother Fred Scarola, and sister Rose Tricarico.
John is interned at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in White Plains, NY. Family and friends will gather in Fort Lauderdale, FL on March 26th to celebrate his life … a life well lived.
