John J. Murphy

John “Murph” J. Murphy of Elmsford died March 22, 2022.  He was 75 years old.  John was born July 23, 1946, son of the late George and Helen Murphy.  He was married to his highschool sweetheart, Judith Cleary Murphy, for 46 years who preceded him in death.  He is a 1964 graduate of Alexander Hamilton High School in Elmsford.

John served his country during the Vietnam War.  He was honorably discharged in 1970 as a sergeant.  He worked for Verizon in various capacities until his retirement.  He was a devoted New York Ranger fan for over 40 years. He belonged to the motorcycle club,  Empire H.O.G. Chapter. He enjoyed many hours on his Harley riding and participating in charity events.

He is survived by his sister, Marie Georganakis, of Georgia, and many nieces, nephews and several grand nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who love him.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 29th at 12:00pm at the Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, 72 East Main Street, Elmsford, NY.  Friends may call from 11-12.  Interment will be in the Ferncliff Cemetery Hartsdale, NY.
