John Edmund Boyle, born April 19th, 1932 in Manhattan, New York passed away Monday July 6th, 2026 at New York Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital. He was 94 years old.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law Lauren Moore, granddaughter Blake Boyle and grandson Lachlan Boyle. He was the son of Irish immigrants from County Cavan, Ireland-Frank Boyle and Mary Ellen Kelly and brother to Monsignor Francis Boyle (deceased, 2021). He grew up on York Avenue, and was a lifelong New York sports fan and devout Catholic. John Edmund "Eddie" Boyle will be remembered for his warmth, faith, endless curiosity, and love for conversation and connection.
He attended Cardinal Hayes High School from 1946-1950 and served in the US Army from 1952-1954 where he was stationed in Paris, France. He met Carmel T. Boyle nee McNulty (deceased, 2018) in London and married in 1961 in Rathmines-Dublin, Ireland. Eddie was a father to Josephine Boyle (deceased, 1964) and Stephen Boyle (deceased, 2017). He spent 25 years at Select Magazine and 20 years employed at The Clark Estates, later retiring and spending the rest of his life in Hartsdale. There, he spent time with family and loved ones, read the paper everyday, developed his technological skills on his iPad watching his favorite films, dog and baby videos, and expanding his knowledge of Ireland and pop culture.
John loved thoughtful conversation and made everyone he knew feel comfortable, listened to and cherished. After almost every visit he would leave his family with the words "sing, dance and be happy" emphasizing his true love for life. He leaves his family with assurance of his life well lived, an invaluable gift for all who miss him dearly.
