Joan C Wood

Joan Catherine (O'Leary) Wood, 85, passed away on October 30, 2015, after a battle with cancer. Joan was born on April 20, 1930 and graduated from Fordham University in 1952. Joan was married to Leo M. Wood, who died in 2005. A longtime Sacred Heart parishioner and Hartsdale resident, Joan worked for the Greenburgh Public Library for many years. Joan loved horses and had a devoted group of life-long friends. Survivors include her son Steven Wood (Laura Hammel) and daughter, Susan DeLong; granddaughters Kacie and Michelle DeLong and Lillian Wood; and sisters Ann Healy and Audrey McKevitt. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert O'Leary. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 6-8PM at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, 2 Maple Avenue, White Plains, NY. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart in Hartsdale on Thursday November 5th at 10AM, with burial to follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.
