Joan Baum

Joan Dolores Baum (nee Morris) of Hawthorne, NY was born on December 10, 1934, and entered Heaven on June 17, 2025. Joan recently celebrated her 90th birthday with her beloved family & friends. She was born in Brooklyn to the late Thomas and Lillian Morris and is survived by her siblings Thomas Jr. and Jeffrey Morris. Joan worked for IBM as an Administrative Assistant and enjoyed her family and friends, church, gardening, crocheting, watching sports and traveling. She met the love of her life, Jack Baum, at the Jug End Barn in the Berkshires and they wed on February 26, 1956. Their 62-year marriage led to four children: Gary J. (Sharon) Baum of Red Hook, the late Paul S. (Karen) Baum of Cortlandt Manor, Glen S. Baum of Hawthorne, and Lynn A. (Edward) Stoecker of Carmel. Joan was blessed with six grandchildren: Michael (Kaitlin) Baum, Amy (Byran) Cussick, Sara (Michael) Snow, Kristen Stoecker, Scott Stoecker, and Jacqueline Baum; four great grandchildren: Lucas, Liam Baum, Benjamin and Nicholas Cussick. Joan Baum will be deeply missed by her beloved family who enjoyed her fun spirit, sense of humor, guidance, warmth and love. Reposing at the Hawthorne Funeral Home on Saturday, June 21, from 3 PM - 7 PM. Funeral Service on Sunday, June 22 at 12 Noon at the Emanuel Lutheran Church, Pleasantville. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to either the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 197 Manville Road Pleasantville, N.Y. 10570, The American Cancer Society or the Calvary Fund at Calvary Hospital.
