We would like to celebrate the full life and announce the passing of Jean Hurvitz of New Rochelle, NY, age 93, on Thursday, November 11, 2021. Jean was a native of White Plains, NY, born in 1928. She became a mathematician and a math teacher before marrying Abraham Hurvitz in 1956. Together, they raised five children. Jean dedicated her life to her family, community, and her Shul. Generosity, kindness, and wisdom were her hallmarks. She saw the good in everyone and always helped others find the best answers to life’s daunting problems. As a force for positivity, she saw her children follow her lead and assume careers that better the lives of others. Jean was a lifelong member of HIWP and served the community by organizing fundraisers, helping to establish the Thrift Store, heading the PTA, and editing the Community Calendar for 30 years. Jean was an expert knitter and produced many sweaters, baby sets, and blankets as gifts to those she loved. Jean was Mommy to family and friends, Cool Grams to even more, and a beloved friend to neighbors and community.
