James Allen Young

James Allen Young was born January 17, 1943, in Clinton, SC, to the late Mary Ella Watts. James Young, better known as Jimmy and affectionately known by the family as Daddy/Grandpa, grew up in the South before moving to NY in his teens. Jimmy attended Mount Vernon High School. In 1964, Jimmy enlisted in the United States Army, where he served overseas as a Sergeant until he was discharged in 1967. While in the Army, Jimmy received the National Defense Service Medal and qualification badges for pistol and expert rifle. Following his return from overseas, Jimmy met his wife, Cathleen Molloy. They were married in 1969. From that union, they had 5 daughters Ingrid, Sibohan, Pascha, Erin & Jamie Lee, in addition to his son Dwayne. For 45 years, Jimmy owned his own landscaping business where he employed many people, giving them a fresh start and a chance to strengthen their work ethic. In addition, before retiring as Foreman, Jimmy spent 35 years serving the Village of Scarsdale Sanitation, where he was known for the help he provided to young men seeking employment. Anyone who knew Jimmy knew that he was a family man. Nothing came before his family. He understood that family was the most important thing, and he strived to be the best father and husband he could. Over the years, Jimmy took in countless relatives and family friends, giving them a place to stay, supporting and caring for them like his own. However, if you knew James Young, you knew he believed in hard work and discipline. If you were in his house, you were being put to work in some capacity, be it helping to clean the house, mow the lawn, rake the leaves, shovel the snow, or anything else he could come up with. No matter where you were in life, you knew that when the chips were down, Mr. Young would save the day. That's just who he was. You knew for sure that when that pick-up truck pulled up playing Al Green, everything was going to be ok. Jimmy enjoyed collecting baseball cards; however, during his later years, Jimmy spent most of his time doing one of the things that made him the happiest: spending time with his family. Although his health started to decline and he suffered many challenges, he put his best foot forward and fought his way through until the race was finished. Jimmy believed in love. He loved his children and his family and dedicated his life to being the best father, friend, protector, and provider possible. God saw fit to bring Jimmy from labor to reward on August 17, 2026, when he transitioned peacefully in his home with his loved ones. Jimmy leaves behind to cherish his memory, his children Ingrid Young, Sibohan Young, Pascha Young & Sean, Erin Young, Jamie Lee Young & Dwayne Jones. Grandchildren Ariel, Eric, Mallory, Madison, James, Shivohan, Christión, Antwon, Unique, Sean, Jr., BoDerek, Dwayne, Jr., Briana & DeAndre. Great-grandchildren Hazel, Amorah, Sevyn, DJ & Dior and family Dondi & Kyla Watts, Carlton, Erica & Paul Watts Jr., and friends. He is predeceased by his mother, Mary Ella Watts, 2 brothers, Paul & Silas, his wife, Cathleen Young & relatives Lena & Tony Watts. Rest well, Jimmy, for you have finished this race and given this life everything you had. Sleep peacefully, Daddy, Grandpa, Mr. Young - until we meet again. Love Always, Your Family!
