James P. Reilly

James P. Reilly, 87, of Hawthorne, NY died on Friday August 22, 2025. He was born on July 26, 1938 to the late John and Elizabeth (nee Love) Reilly in Brooklyn, NY. After graduating from De La Salle Institute High School (1956) and Fordham University (1960) and serving two years in the U.S. Army he began his career in finance at CitiBank. He retired from HSBC in 2003. He is predeceased by his devoted wife Marjorie and his five siblings - Mary, John, Charles, Teresa and Roseann.

He is survived by his children James (Barbra) Reilly of Somers, N.Y., Steven (Sabrina) Reilly of Charleston, SC., Deirdre Paletta (Alfred DeSilva) of Hawthorne, N.Y. and Aileen (John) Joyce of Mohegan Lake, N.Y. one sister-in-law, Rosaleen (Thomas) Cody of New City, N.Y. He is also survived by his three cherished granddaughters, Kathryn Paletta, Megan and Jennifer Joyce, his many nieces and nephews, as well as his two dogs Athena and Hercules.

He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, his love of the Dodgers, and his fondness for crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and card games. A brief wake will be held from 10 am to 11 am at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home on Stevens Avenue in Hawthorne. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Church, Hawthorne, N.Y. on Tuesday, 11:30 AM. Interment, Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. In lieu of flowers donations to the American Heart Association would be appreciated.
