Jack Salomone, a resident of Pleasantville, passed away on June 25th at the age of 94. He lived a long and fruitful life. As a first generation Italian he started working for the family business, Salomone & Co., at twelve years old doing bills and translating contracts for his father who spoke very little English. During the Second World War he served his country in the Army Air Corps as a First Lieutenant navigator for a B-24. After the war he expanded the family business with his three younger brothers into a very successful construction and real estate company. In his later years, he continued his love of flying by piloting his own plane. When he was not traveling locally he enjoyed exploring the globe with his wife. Additionally Jack & Gloria were both avid golfers and members of Knollwood Country Club. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Gloria, having been married for 67 years, and his three children: Mary Ann Salomone, Barbara Watson and her husband Steve, and Jack Salomone Jr. and his wife Linda. Jack was also blessed with three grandchildren: Kimberly Russo and her husband Jeremy, Willow Salomone, and Alex Holmes as well as two great-grandchildren Nicolas and Carina Russo. A memorial mass will be held at Holy Rosary Church (170 Bradhurst Avenue, Hawthorne) Thursday 10 AM followed by an internment at Ferncliff Mausoleum (Hartsdale, NY). In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Jack's name.
