Irene Eugui

Irene Eugui, a longtime resident of both Valhalla, NY, and Brooklyn NY, went home to the Lord on May 29, 2025 at the age of 80. She was born on September 6, 1944 in Staten Island, NY, daughter of the late Charles & Celia (nee Goldberg) Isler.

Irene worked for many years as a secretary for various large banks and law firms in both Brooklyn and Manhattan, and she continued in administrative jobs locally after retiring from commuting into the city.

Irene will be remembered for many things, love of reading and she had the gift of gab, she loved talking to everyone she met. She also loved the Lord and Church. She was also an active and patriotic member of the American Legion Ladies Auxllary Post 1038 of Valhalla, New York.

Irene is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Hector and Cherie Eugui; her two grandchildren, Annabelle Eugui and Brandon Eugui, and also her beloved dachshund 'Sugar Pup', whom she loved taking on long walks through town and at the park at Kensico Dam.

Irene loved spending time caring for her two grandchildren and watching them grow up. She spent many summers taking her grandchildren and their friends to the town pool, and other activities, where everyone, both children and adults, lovingly referred to her as 'Granny'.

Her Family will gather with Friends on Monday, June 2, 2025 from 4-8PM at the HAWTHORNE FUNERAL HOME, 21 W. Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, New York. A Graveside Service will be held 2PM, Tuesday, June 3rd at the Kensico Cemetery, 273 Lakeview Avenue, Valhalla, New York.
