Ines (DeGuzman) Ramos

Ines De Guzman Ramos of Hartsdale, NY passed away on Saturday, December 24th at the age of 102. She was born on April 20th, 1920 in Sariaya, Quezon, Philippines to Manuel and Herminigilda De Guzman. She was the last surviving member of her 13 siblings.

For over 30 years, Ines was a beloved schoolteacher in the Philippines and, upon immigrating to the U.S., continued teaching in Brooklyn, NY.

Ines and her husband, Ponciano, were active members at Sacred Heart Church in Hartsdale. She was a member of The Legion of Mary, and was known by her fellow parishioners for her daily rosary procession around the church which she made on her knees. She and Ponciano enjoyed ballroom dancing and traveling with their eldest grandson.

Ines is survived by husband Ponciano; her 3 daughters: Lillian, Donna, and Armi; her 6 grandchildren: Roderick and his wife Tracy, Derrick, Christine, Patrick and his wife Christine, Timothy, and Joshua; and her great-grandson Rion. A viewing will be held at 4pm on Thursday, December 29th at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home. On Friday, December 30th, a Mass will be held at 10am in Sacred Heart Church in Hartsdale. Following the Mass, her burial will be at Gate Of Heaven cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.
