Herbert "Herb" Press

May 27, 1941 — September 10, 2025

Las Vegas, NV

Herbert "Herb" Press, 84, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on September 10, 2025.

Born on May 27, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York, Herb grew up with a love of music and community. A proud graduate of Erasmus Hall High School, he served as Student Body President, a role he fondly recalled throughout his life.

At just 17, Herb entered show business as a singer and guitarist under the stage name Don Press. He toured and released several singles, including his best-known recording, Ask the Robin, which is still collected by music enthusiasts today. In his early twenties, Herb graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology and went on to establish his own architectural design firm, working in both New York and Nevada. He led the firm with pride and creativity for the remainder of his career.

Herb had a gift for conversation-whether discussing world events, art, design, or simply sharing stories, he could engage with anyone.

With friends and colleagues, he carried an ease and lightness; with family, he could be complicated and stubborn, but his love was always unwavering. He loved to travel, had a passion for great restaurants, and shared a deep affection for his pets. His most peaceful times were spent fishing in Montauk, Long Island, a place that always brought him calm and joy.

Herb is survived by his loving wife, Joanne; his son, Darren; his daughter, Dayna; and his five cherished granddaughters, Jordan, Katelyn, Schuyler, Maeve, and Amaya. He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The David M. Rubenstein Center for Pancreatic Cancer Research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
