Helen M. Popovich

HELEN M. POPOVICH (nee DaRos) age 99, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 8th, 2026.

Born in Brooklyn, New York to Serafina Altoè DaRos and Angelo DaRos. Helen grew up attending all Public Schools and Secretarial School in Astoria, Long Island, N.Y.

Married in 1947 to Henry J. Popovich, moving to Cape May, N.J. then to Ramsey, N.J. A company transfer in 1966 settled the family in Edgewood, Kentucky. She is a former resident of Florence, Kentucky, a 36 year retiree of the Liberty Cherry & Fruit Company's payroll/personnel, a subsidiary of General Foods Company. Active in E.S.A's Delta Gamm Chapter, a philanthropic organization funding for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and many other charities in the area. A former Coordinator in the Oakbrook Community in Florence, Kentucky. She moved to Lexington, Kentucky after retirement in 1997 to be with her family.

She is survived by her two sons, Steven and John Popovich, her daughter-in-law Robin, and her grandchildren Harrison, (Cassie) and Alyssa Popovich, and John's Fiancee' Evelyn "Evy" Patterson; her sister-in-law, Anne DaRos; Selena ad Michael Persley, their children, Julien, Antonaee, Evelyn, Celeste, and Remington, and twenty nephews and nieces.

She was preceded by her late husband, Henry J. and first born son, Raymond Popovich, her late brothers, Aldo and Dino DaRosa, and sister-in-law Joan DaRos.

Services will be held, Saturday, August 15, 2026

Visitation will be from 9:30 am - 11:00 am, at Ballard-Durand of Hawthorne: 21 west Stevens Ave, Hawthorne, NY

Internment will follow the visitation, at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY

A Celebration of Life will be held after the burial.
