Gordon H. Morrison, known to many as "Blondie," was born on November 24, 1940, in St. Phillip, Barbados, and passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026, in White Plains, New York, leaving behind a legacy of love and family.
He was the beloved son of Oliver Cromwell Morrison and Mabel Alexandra Larrier. At the age of 18, Gordon left Barbados to join the British Army, where he proudly served in Germany. After completing his service, he returned to England and worked at the Leyland car factory, and also began raising his family. After exploring several career paths, he later moved to the United States in 1979 with his family and went on to work for the New York City Department of Transportation as a highwayman.
Gordon was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and beloved uncle to his many nieces and nephews, cherishing his family above all else. He is survived by his loving children, Maxine J. Morrison, Sonia A. Earle (son-in-law Raymond Earle), and Michelle Weston; his siblings, Catherine Moore, Vaudie Fields, and Ernest Morrison; his grandchildren, Tristan Best, Laila Morrison, Jayden Morrison, Janae Morrison, Jade Earle and Indiana Weston; and his treasured great-grandchildren, Tristan Best Jr. and Tiyana Best.
Gordon had a natural gift for fixing things-if something was broken, especially a car, he was the one everyone turned to. He loved to laugh, tell jokes, and spend time reminiscing about life back in Barbados, sharing stories that kept his roots and memories alive for future generations.
Gordon will be remembered for his strength, his humor, and the deep love he had for his family. His presence will be greatly missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A funeral service will be held on April 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, 21 West Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, New York 10532.
