George Lovetro

George Lawrence Lovetro, 93 of Mahopac, New York passed peacefully August, 31, 2026 of natural causes surrounded by family. George was born on August 23, 1933 to Dominick and Prudence Lovetro on the lower east side of Manhattan where he first met his bride, Joan Jensen. They married in 1955, lived in New York City before moving to Mahopac where they raised their three daughters. 

George was a gifted athlete who played a variety of sports with his favorite being basketball. His youth team even played championships at Madison Square Garden. In his later years George was an avid tennis player, golfer and runner who completed the New York City Marathon at age 50. 

Professionally, George was a systems analyst at IBM for 25 years. He designed products that were used globally and took him all over the world. George was always happy to share stories of the glory days at IBM and spoke of his accomplishments and contributions quite proudly as a kid from the Lower East Side. In 2003 George and Joan retired to Leesburg, Florida with Joan's brother Charles and wife Beverly. 

 What George was most proud of and most committed to was his family. His storybook marriage of 55 years to his beloved wife Joan, their daughters, Susan (Rolf) Krauss, Lois (Gilbert) Baeriswil and Karen (Eric) Seyfried as well as his grandchildren Matthew, Emily, Brittney, Erica, Dominick, Rolf Jr, Amelia and Ava and his great grandchildren Alanna, Shane, Logan Haylie and Keegan. George was predeceased by his siblings, John, Anthony and Marie.
