Gennarina Guillaro

Gennarina Guillaro peacefully entered eternal life on September 12, 2026. She was a long-time resident of Silver Lake. She was born in Calabria, Italy on October 19, 1928 and traveled to NYC with her dear sister Frances in 1946.

Gennarina began her career as a seamstress and quickly developed into a very talented dress maker! For several years, she was a teacher's aide at Preston Elementary School. She then turned her talents as a gift wrapper at B'Altman's and Bloomingdales. No one made bows like Gennarina!

Gennarina was deeply devoted to her faith and was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church in West Harrison for her entire adult life. She was very devoted to St. Anthony and made the cape for the statue of St. Anthony to wear in the annual procession. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Society for many years. She used her sewing/croqueting skills to help others. She croqueted many quilts, blankets, and leg warmers for organizations such as Rosary Hill and Cardinal McCloskey Community Services.

She married the love of her life, Paul Guillaro on February 28, 1954. They began their marriage in Silver Lake and never left. Upon retirement, they did everything together from tending their fruit and vegetable garden well into their 90s! Many were the happy recipients of the fruits of their labor. They also enjoyed their annual trips to Florida.

Gennarina's faith was utmost in her life as was her family. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the loves of her life. She cooked and baked with love and devotion making sure she always made everyone's favorite meal. Her family will never forget how much love and care went into everything she did from cooking a meal, baking for holidays, sewing favorite outfits, croqueting countless blankets of which her great grandchildren are now enjoying.

She is survived 3 children MaryAnn (Anthony) White, Paul (Lori) Guillaro and Anthony Guillaro. Grandchildren Tanya (William) Pagano, Anthony White, Paul (Katherine) Guillaro, Daniel (Narisha) Guillaro, Michael (Jacqueline) Guillaro, and Nicholas Guillaro. Great grandchildren William Pagano, Matthew Pagano, John Paul (JP) Guillaro, Elizabeth (Elle) Guillaro, Rishaan Guillaro and a baby due this week.
