Frank R. Machera

Frank J. Machera 89 of Valhalla, New York  passed away at his home on Saturday January 18th 2020.  Frank was born June 5th, 1930 in the Bronx, New York and was the youngest of four children.  Frank is survived by his wife Mariann of 61 years, daughters Anita and Lucia and his loving grandchildren, Jordan, Silvana and Michael.

Frank was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and a friend to everyone. Graduating from the School of Industrial Arts in 1949, Frank had 60 year career as a commercial artist. His 60 year career began in New York City as a designer of labels and tags for the fashion industry. In 1990 he moved his studio to Pleasantville, New York where he restored antique clock dials for clients all over the world with one of his restorations being featured in the 2007 Disney film “Enchanted”. A member of the National Arts Club, Frank enjoyed attending lectures on art and music. His  love for classical music was on display for all who came to his studio and home with the sounds of WQXR emanating from every radio. Always giving of himself, Frank donated much of his free time to Covenant House and other charitable organizations. A veteran, Frank proudly served in the US Army from 1951 to 1953.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that denotations be made to the Alzheimer's Association  (www.alz.org)  or Covenant House (www.covenanthouse.org).

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 3-6 PM at the Hawthorne Funeral Home. Funeral Mass, Holy Name of Jesus Church, Valhalla, NY on Friday 10 AM.
