Erika Fischer passed away peacefully on October 27th 2025 at the age of 91. Erika was born in Augsburg Germany on November 27th, 1933 to Barbara and Albert Fischer. She was predeceased by her brothers Yohann, Albert and Gerhard.
Erika left Germany at the age of 21 and went to work as a nanny for a family in Canada. After 2 years she went to New York City and landed a job working at Royal Bank of Canada. Her next career move was as a credit clerk for Philip Morris International. She worked there for over 25 years and retired in 2001. She decided at that time to move from Queens NY to Manhattan. She loved living in the city where she would go see shows at Lincoln Center and the Metropolitan Opera. A true animal lover, she decided to volunteer at Bide-a-Wee animal shelter where she adopted a dog named Nina.
In 2011, Erika moved from Manhattan to Westchester County. Erika's final years were spent at the Kensington in White Plains where she was adored and well taken care of by the staff in the Haven. Erika led a full life defined by warmth, strength and resilience. She will be sadly missed.
A funeral mass will take place on Tuesday, November 4th 2025 at 11am at St. Gregory the Great in Harrison, New York, followed by a burial at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
