With profound sadness, we mourn the passing of Vincenzina (Enza) Dattero, who died April 25, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Enza was the beloved wife of John Dattero and proud mother of Erica and Rita Dattero.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, on February 19, 1966, Enza was the loving daughter of Baldassare and Maria Vitello, both Italian immigrants, and devoted sister to Mimma Finger. From a young age, Enza excelled academically, graduating early from New Utrecht High School. She went on to receive her BA from Pace University's Lubin School of Business. At each of these institutions, Enza developed lifelong, cherished friendships.
She met the love of her life, John, working in Manhattan, and the two married and moved to Westchester. Enza had a successful career in the Media Planning and Advertising industry for over twenty years. She was also committed to improving her school community, serving as PTA President, advocating for students with learning disabilities, and volunteering to help first-generation students apply to college. She was an active volunteer in many organizations, particularly devoted to her work as a founding board member of The Children's Hope Chest.
Never one to settle, Enza started a second career as a college advisor at the age of 48. She loved working with the students and her company, Your College Story, quickly became successful. Enza remained committed to her students and clients throughout her brave battle against cancer, right up until the time of her passing.
For Enza, family came first. Her daughters were her pride and joy. She was equally devoted to her parents, her sister, and her sister's children, Jaclyn Denora and Andrew Finger, as well as her many nieces, nephews, and Godchildren. She was a movie buff and Hallmark channel junkie, but her true hobby was building relationships with others and being a trusted friend to so many. Everyone she met became an integral part of her family. She was an incredible cook and enjoyed hosting family get-togethers, always making sure everyone was well fed. Some of her fondest memories were hosting her loved ones while summering in Breezy Point. Enza took great comfort in her faith in God and treasured the friends she met in church and at Walking with Purpose women's ministry.
Enza's vibrant presence will be missed by too many to count. She was a friend to all she met, always providing comfort and solace while asking little in return. Her husband John adored her, and together they taught their two incredible daughters, Erica and Rita, compassion, integrity, confidence and love.
The void left by her beautiful presence will never diminish.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the "Enza Dattero Scholarship Fund" at Harrison High School. A donation to this memorial fund will continue her advocacy and provide financial support to a college-bound student annually.
