Elli Bayliss

Elli L. Bayliss, of White Plains, NY, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on Friday, July 17, 2015 at the age of 90. Elli was born on December 31, 1924 in Guckingen, Germany. She came to this country with Morris Bayliss, her beloved husband of 51 years who predeceased her in 2000. They were the proud owners of Nu-Way Cleaners & Tailors of Westchester, family owned since 1945; and presently operated by her son Richard & his family; wife Kathy, sons Michael & Jeffrey Bayliss. Elli is survived by the greatest love of her life, her family; her daughter Annette Schwab, husband Paul, of Pleasantville, NY and her son Richard Bayliss and his devoted wife Kathy of Valhalla, NY. She is the devoted “gma” of David & wife Becky Schwab of Westerly, RI, Jason Schwab of NYC, Michael Bayliss of Valley Cottage, NY, and Jeffrey Bayliss of Danbury, CT, and her beloved Great-Grandson, Gavin Schwab of Westerly, RI, the pride and joy of her life; all who were fortunate to have her in their lives. She is survived by relatives in Germany, her sister, Gertrud Kerth, Sister-in-law, Liesel Keiper, nieces and nephews, Gabi Bopp, Armin Keiper, Rainer Kerth, Karen Miron and their extended families. Elli will best be remembered for her loyalty and generosity to her family and kindness to others.
Friends may visit at Ballard Durand Funeral Home, 2 Maple Avenue at South Broadway, White Plains, NY, on Sunday, July 19th from 5-9PM. Funeral service on Monday July 20th, 11:30AM at Temple Kol Ami, 252 Soundview Ave., White Plains, NY. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 80 Commerce Street, Hawthorne, NY at 11:30AM.
The family will sit Shiva on Tuesday, July 21, from 7-9PM at the home of Richard & Kathy Bayliss, 2 Birch Brook Drive, Valhalla, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to White Plains Hospital, 41 East Post Road, White Plains, NY, 10601 in memory of Elli Bayliss and recognition of the outstanding Nursing & Staff on the 3rd Floor.
