Donald J. Costa, 99 of Elmsford, NY was a resident for 65 years, died on Monday, October 6, 2025. Donald was born in Bronx, NY on July 31, 1926 to John and Frances Costa (deceased). He later moved to Yonkers, NY and graduated from Saunders High School. Thereafter, Donald was a service man for the US Navy (1944-1946) and was in the invasion of Okinawa during World War II. After his tour of duty, he returned back to Yonkers, NY and worked as a machinist at Ferrand Optical in Valhalla, NY. Donald married Stella Makar (deceased) of Yonkers, NY on 11/2/57 at Saint Carisma Church in Yonkers, NY. He is survived by their loving children Robert, Suzanne and (Michael, son-in-law) and Lynda. He was also a loving grandfather to Gregory. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy Untener of Rockland County with many nieces and nephews. He also had Angela (deceased), a loving companion for several years. Donald served in the City of Yonkers Fire Dept. (Engine 13), for 26 years (1954 and retired in 1982). Then followed by being a school and charter bus driver for several years after. Throughout his life, Donald has been an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing and had a love for animals. Donald's first focus and main interest was only for his family. Donald was a loving father, who had a heart of gold, and would do the ultimate to achieve the best for his children and the people around him. Donald was a man known for his good will, generosity and compassion.
