In Loving Memory of Cristina Finateri

1932 - 2026

Though she will forever be remembered as a proud American, Cristina Finateri's remarkable journey began in Lima, Peru, where she was born in 1932. As a young woman, she immigrated to New York, the place she would proudly call home for the rest of her life.

Cristina was a woman of extraordinary strength and determination. She carried herself with confidence and conviction, yet beneath her stern exterior was a heart overflowing with kindness, generosity, and compassion. She was the type of person who never waited to be asked for help. She simply saw a need and stepped in. Her selflessness touched countless lives, and many affectionately referred to her as a miracle worker because of her ability to solve problems, comfort others, and make the impossible seem possible.

Blessed with incredible talent in the kitchen, Cristina expressed her love through food. Her cooking and baking brought family and friends together and created memories that will be cherished for generations. She was also a gifted beautician and successful business owner, operating beauty salons in New York where she helped others feel beautiful and confident.

Yet, among her many accomplishments, Cristina found her greatest purpose as a nurse aide. Caring for the elderly was more than a profession, it was her calling. She had a unique ability to restore dignity, confidence, and joy to those in her care. Patients and their families were drawn to her warmth, compassion, and unwavering dedication, and many considered her a blessing during some of life's most difficult moments.

Above all else, Cristina was a devoted mother. She sacrificed endlessly for her beloved children, Franca and Jose, always placing their needs ahead of her own and working tirelessly to ensure they had every opportunity to succeed. Her love for her family knew no bounds.

She will also be remembered as the sweetest and most caring grandmother, whose love was unconditional and whose presence made every gathering feel like home. As a neighbor, she delighted in baking and delivering baskets of fresh bread to members of her community, spreading kindness one loaf at a time. Her deep faith guided her throughout her life, and she was a devoted member of her church, finding joy in worship, fellowship, and serving others.

Although Cristina loved to travel and experience different cultures, nothing was more important to her than her family, her friends, and her community. They were the center of her world and the recipients of her boundless love.

While our hearts are broken by the loss of such an extraordinary woman, we take comfort in knowing that her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched. We are grateful for the lessons she taught us, the love she shared so freely, and the example she set through a life of service, faith, and devotion.

Heaven has gained a beautiful angel, and though she is no longer with us in person, Cristina's spirit will continue to guide, inspire, and live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
