Claudette Elise Bolakas passed away in her ninetieth year on Wednesday June 4, 2025. Born in Manhattan in 1934, she is survived by sons Paul and Vance and grandchildren Artemis, Lana, Wade, and Melissa.
Claudette graduated from the New York State Teacher's College in 1956. She was a French teacher, although she also taught Spanish. But French was her first language because it was spoken at home when she was a child. Her teaching career spanned four decades. She worked for both public and private school systems. She began at Ossining High School and later worked for the Archdiocese of New York at Saint Vincent Ferrer in Manhattan. She also lived and worked in Greenwich, Connecticut where she met Bill Bolakas her second husband.
When Bill's company relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, the newlywed couple moved South. Eventually Bill retired and they divided their time between Atlanta and Shelter Island, New York where they had purchased a summer home.
She recently moved to Kingston where she spent quality time with her family and spent her remaining days surrounded by love. She will be missed by all.
