SHELTON, CT – Clara Verano 95, passed away peacefully April 13, 2026. Born Dominica Concetta Clara Cosentino May 11, 1930, in Mount Pleasant, NY. Clara was the daughter of Peter Angelo Cosentino and Conchetta Puciano Cosentino.
Clara graduated from White Plains High School. Following graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Anthony Verano. They celebrated 74 years of marriage July 8, 2025. Together they enjoyed being snowbirds living between their homes in Venice, FL and Monroe, CT. Once retired they returned to West Harrison, NY where they first started their married life and birth of their two daughters. Subsequently they moved to the Benchmark at Split Rock assisted living in Shelton, CT. Throughout Clara’s life she enjoyed swimming, playing tennis, softball, and basketball. Clara was artistic enjoying most notably ceramics. Clara spent most of her life as a housewife and mother. During her life she worked at Macy’s, Caldor’s, and Monroe, CT school’s cafeterias. While living in Monroe Clara was an active member of St. Jude Parish. In West Harrison, NY she was an active member of St. Anthony’s Parish, a member of the Rosary Alter Society and the West Harrison Senior Center. Clara is survived by her daughter Diana Verano, granddaughters Chavelyin Karlovich-Colleran (Liam) and Toni-Marie Verano (Nick). She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Clara was predeceased by her loving husband Anthony Verano, daughter Rosemarie Verano, grandson Anthony Karlovich, parents Peter Angelo and Conchetta Cosentino, sisters Millie Christensen Carlough and Edith Rose and brothers Louis Cosentino and Frank Cosentino. Private interment services are Tuesday April 21, 2026 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
