Christina Sprague

March 17, 1944 — October 25, 2023

Tarrytown, NY

Christina Marie Sprague, age 79, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 25, 2023, due to complications from leukemia.

Christina, daughter of Raymond and Clara Trexler, was born March 17, 1944, in White Plains, NY. She attended St. John’s School from elementary through 11th grade and graduated from Maria Regina High School. She then attended and graduated from Wilford Academy Beauty School and kept up her cosmetology license throughout her entire life. She also enjoyed waitressing for many years. Christina married Dennis Paul Sprague on October 16, 1966, and later divorced. She then went on to graduate from secretarial school, which led to her 20+ years working for Westchester County Department of Social Services in various positions, including child support specialist.

From childhood through much of her adult life, Christina was a member of Mount Carmel Church in White Plains, NY, and went on to continue her spiritual journey through personal prayer, scriptural reading, her love of angels, and her personal relationship with the Father, Son & Holy Spirit.

Christina is survived by daughter Denise Clare Sprague, brother Raymond Trexler (sister-in-law Susan), sister Frances Ashcroft (brother-in-law Eugene), nieces, Melissa (husband Adam), Ashley, Sarah and nephew David, great nieces and nephews, extended family and friends including Yvette, Rosemary, Charlyn, Marge, and many loved ones.

Christina was preceded in death by parents Clara (Magliari) Trexler and Raymond Trexler Sr, grandmother Frances (Maenza) Magliari , former husband Dennis P. Sprague and infant son Dennis P. Sprague Jr. (who she can finally hold in her arms).

Throughout her lifetime Christina enjoyed singing, dancing, drawing, painting, and focusing on holistic health and her Faith. She found enjoyment and peace being near the water, especially Playland Boardwalk and Tarrytown Riverwalk. Christina found solace in her favorite scripture, “Be Still and Know that I Am God” (Psalm 46:10).

Following Christina's service, the family invites loved ones to Christina's Celebration of Life at Rini's Restaurant in Elmsford, NY.
