Charles B. Wendel, a former resident of New York, NY, recently of Miami, FL, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2025 at his home; at the age of 74. He was born on June 9, 1950 in New York, NY, son of the late Charles Gabler Wendel and Roberta A. (nee Wilde) Wendel.
Charles graduated from Xaverian High School and received a Bachelor of Arts from New York University. From 1971 to 1977, he attended Columbia University, receiving a Master of Arts and a Master of Philosophy in English and Comparative Literature, and a Master of Business Administration in Graduate Business.
Charles spent many years as a financial consultant, working at Citibank, McKinsey & Company, and Mercer Management Company. He founded and served as the President of FIC Inc. for over 37 years.
Charles was an avid reader and writer, sharing this love with family and friends through book gifts and humorous stories. A devoted traveler, he adventured to every continent and spent his later years between Florida and Colombia, embracing life in all its variety. He is loved by people all over the world. He enjoyed long, boozy lunches - martini in hand - and aimless walks through interesting neighborhoods. Always, he was with his most faithful companions, the many dogs he knew and loved, including Rosie, Coco, and Toby.
Charles is survived by his two sons: Samuel A. Wendel of Miami, FL and Benjamin M. Wendel of London, England; he is also survived by his sister Barbara Bentley-Nash. In addition to his parents, Charles was also predeceased by his sister Roberta Wendel.
His Family will receive Friends on Friday, May 9, 2025 from 9-11am at the HAWTHORNE FUNERAL HOME, 21 W. Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, New York, where a service will be offered 11am, followed by interment to Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, New York.
