Carolyn Granger, 81, of Annapolis, MD passed away on September 3, 2024, in Sleepy Hollow, NY.
Carolyn was born on January 15, 1943, in Chehalis, WA to Eric and Charlotte Sommer and older sister Barbara. She left home to attend George Washington University where she met her husband James Granger on a blind date. She said, "he wanted to get married and have children, he just needed me to tell him," and luckily, he agreed. They had two children and were married for 51 years before Jim's passing in 2021.
Carolyn had many jobs throughout her life, loved volunteering for the Annapolis Democratic Central Committee, and paddling and drumming with the Annapolis Dragon Boat Club. She also had a tight-knit group of friends going back decades with whom she regularly played bridge (badly), dined out (gladly), and discussed local politics (avidly). She hated computers.
She was a great mother, a terrific wife, a spunky friend, a vivacious person, and so much fun that she occasionally got into serious trouble. In short, she was absolutely wonderful.
Carolyn is survived by children Josh and Katie Granger, granddaughters Nora and Vera Hvidsten, and sister Barbara Feigin. A celebration of Carolyn's life will be held in Annapolis, MD, details to come.
