Carol (Kari) Pastore of West Harrison, NY died on November 11th, 2022. She was 96 years old. She was born on June 2, 1926, in White Plains, NY to Fred and Mary (Gentile) DePaso. She grew up there, with her two (predeceased) sisters and was a stellar student, exceling in reading and spelling.
She met her husband, Michael (Mickey) Pastore at a deli in White Plains. She claims she felt bad for him and offered him a slice of ham. This tradition continued for some time, until Mickey was sent overseas, and their relationship blossomed with many love letters. Upon his return from WW2, they were married on August 4th, 1946, in White Plains, NY and moved to West Harrison to start their family shortly after.
Kari worked as a travel agent allowing her the opportunity to travel all over the world. Her other lifelong career was as a "homemaker", she took pride in her family and her home. Her creativity and artistic talents were always on display craft projects. In her youth she was a competitive roller skater, and spelling B champion. She enjoyed gardening and spending time in her backyard, decorating her home for every occasion, fashion (always the best dressed in the room), the sun, gossip magazines (she always knew the latest dirt), knitting, traveling, and cleaning, especially vacuuming. She was very religious and a devoted member of the Protestant Memorial Community Church in West Harrison, and a member of the Italian American Club. Her strength amazed all of us, her warmth touched us, she had a profound effect on everyone who had the honor of knowing her. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her beloved Husband Michael Pastore, Children Janis (Richard) Passerelli, Carol Pastore, Paula Ildefonso, Grandchildren Stacie (Bobby) Wilhelm, Richard Passerelli, Nicole (Paul) Zumbo, Faith Ildefonso, Kristen Ciafone, and seven Great-Grandchildren. She is predeceased by her son Michael Pastore Jr., Son-In-Law David Ildefonso. Grandson Thomas Ciafone, and beloved sisters Louise Marsico and Angel Ciardullo.
