Carmine Mazzella 93, of White Plains, N.Y. died suddenly on May 31, 2019 at his residence. He was born on July 23, 1925 to the late Andrea and Santa Mazzella in Ponza, Italy. Carmine began his working career as a police officer in Rome, Italy. He then immigrated to the US in 1949 where he worked at Charleston Bookbindery in NYC and then moved on to be custodian at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, N.Y.,retiring when he was 83. Most important to him was his family and he took special pride in his home and garden. He was predeceased by his devoted wife and sweetheart, Maria Mazzella in 2015 and is survived by his loving daughters, Lynette (Larry) Massaro of North White Plains, N.Y. and Elisa (Tim) Carbary of Ossining, N.Y. also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Vinny (Anna), Jennifer (Joseph) and Patricia and precious great grandchildren, Isabella and Matthew. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Tuesday (today) 4-8 PM. Funeral Mass, Holy Name of Jesus Church, Valhalla, N.Y. on Wednesday, 10 AM. Interment, Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Greenburgh, N.Y. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Memphis, TN, would be appreciated.
