In Loving Memory of Carmen "Tata" Del Pilar November 4, 1933 - September 3, 2026
Carmen Delia Castro Del Pilar, lovingly known to everyone as "Tata," passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026, at the age of 92, surrounded by the love of the family she devoted her life to.
Carmen was born on November 4, 1933, in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico to parents, Inocencia Alvarez Castro and Cerilo Castro. She was one of nine children. On June 15, 1954, she married the love of her life, Victor Del Pilar, with whom she built a beautiful family and shared a lifetime of memories.
Together they raised their children, Victor, Sandra, Reinaldo, Candida, and their adopted son, Alexander. Carmen was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She had six grandchildren, Nina, Michelle, Gabrielle, Kevin, Markus and Justin, and nine beloved great-grandchildren, Kealen, Julissa, Penelope, Isabella, Jaxson, Christian, Nova, Mia and Maci, each of whom brought tremendous joy to her life.
Carmen spent much of her life caring for others. She was selfless, generous, compassionate, tender, and loving. She had a remarkable way of making people feel like family, whether they were related to her or not. Her home, her table, and most importantly, her heart were always open.
Those who knew Carmen knew that she also loved to have fun. She enjoyed going to the casino, playing Bingo, trying her luck with lottery scratch-offs, cooking for the people she loved, listening to Julio Iglesias, and, above all, spending time with her family. She brought laughter, warmth, and unforgettable memories wherever she went.
Her greatest legacy cannot be measured in possessions or accomplishments. It lives in the people she loved and in the kindness she taught by example. Her generosity and compassion will continue through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and everyone fortunate enough to have been touched by her life.
Carmen was predeceased by her beloved husband, Victor, and her sons Reinaldo and Alexander. She is survived by her sister Doris; her children Victor, Sandra, and Candida; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and the many relatives and friends who became family simply because Carmen loved them that way.
After a lifetime spent taking care of everyone else, it is now our turn to lovingly place Carmen into God's care.
We will miss her voice, her laughter, her cooking, her strength, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. But the lessons she taught us and the love she planted within our family will remain forever.
Rest peacefully, Tata. You gave us a lifetime of love. Now we give you back to God, knowing that you are reunited with those you loved and that one day, we will be together again. Que dios te bendiga.
