Carla Ahlers

Carla Ahlers formerly of Guilford, CT passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2022 at the age of 74. She was born in Bronx, NY to the late Carl and Josephine Scaglione. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Richard Ahlers, her children Jessica (Christopher) Wargins, Rich (Jennifer), Carl, and her grandchildren, Emilia, Elle and Aila. She is also survived by her five siblings, Angelo (Judy), Jo-Ann (Danny), Carl (Nancy), Christine and Roberta.

Carla was a fierce presence on this earth. A graduate of Mankato State University she went on to become an entrepreneur who had many successful business ventures, including Tot Ta Trot children’s store in Connecticut. She also obtained her MBA in Business Administration while working in loss mitigation.

Carla’s energy and personality along with her gregarious laugh always filled the room. It was that personality and jovial spirit that inspired her to throw fun parties and celebrate all life events. She was a fantastic cook who was always creative with her recipes. Her stuffed artichokes and rice balls were unrivaled. Carla loved the beach, particularly Old Lyme, CT where she vacationed as a child and later owned beach cottages. She also enjoyed traveling, music, dancing and frequently visiting Arthur Avenue.

Carla was a unique and wonderful person and will be missed so much by everyone that knew her. Although we are devastated by her passing, we are comforted in knowing that she has no more pain and will be reunited with her beloved parents in Heaven.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 18, 2022 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Hawthorne Funeral Home, Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel within the Gate of Heaven Cemetery Hawthorne, NY. Interment to follow.
