Blezent Joy Trail

February 19, 1956 — November 15, 2023

Blezent Joy Trail, lovingly known as Aunt or Mama Joy, passed away on on November 15th, 2023, transcending to our Lord in Heaven. She was born on February 19th, 1956, in St. Thomas, Jamaica.

In her teenage years, Joy moved from Jamaica to Birmingham, U.K. She grew into a young woman and made a life for herself for about two decades.

From the early 1980s going forward Joy made a huge leap moving to the United States. She spent most of her life in White Plains, NY. Joy was one of the first people in her family to arrive in a new country like the U.S. independently.

Joy worked at New York Presbyterian, doing housekeeping for 17 years. From there on she retired but she never stopped doing. She was a jack of all trades. Having experience as a caretaker, she's also for many years has been entrusted to raise many kids, kids who have grown to be fine upstanding adults with their own kids. She was a big part of the community, and was always known as the lady with the snacks or plates, from her early days with the Slaterettes to community trips for vacation. Joy embraced kids and looked out for their well-being. People loved Joy and could count on her for a smile. Young or old, people loved to confide to her. They knew she would always be a shoulder to lean on.

Joy was a well-known cook, most famous for her oxtails. She would cater for many events. She enjoyed cooking and setting up to sell food for the yearly festivals in Valhalla. Even sold food outside her building when the weather was nice. Cooking was her favorite and best hobby. Joy was an excellent cook which is one thing everyone could always agree on.

A woman of faith known for her goodwill. It didn't matter if someone was a family member, friend, coworker, or stranger passing her on the street; if someone needed help or a listening ear, she gave. A pillar of her community.

Joy leaves behind her only daughter, Kimmely Trail, and her only son, Lomax McLarty Jr. She also leaves behind her grandchild, Isis Hickson. She leaves behind many loved ones and will be truly missed.
