Bernice Hoffman

Barbara (Bernice) Hoffman, a longtime New Paltz resident, died Saturday, October 10 after a short illness. She was one week shy of her 91st birthday. Born in New York City to Albert and Ronnie Fineberg, she graduated from New Rochelle High School before marrying her husband, Marvin Hoffman, who predeceased her in 2010. Together they spent several years living in Westchester, Europe, California and Pennsylvania before moving to Ulster County.

Following her husband's death, Barbara devoted many hours to volunteering at Family of New Paltz, where she made new friendships to add to those she had developed throughout her life. She also enjoyed spending time with her neighbors at the Mulberry Square apartments.

She is survived by her children, Mala Hoffman and Marc Moran, Scott and Rena Hoffman, and Adam and Melissa Hoffman, as well as grandchildren Lucy Moran and Rudi Azank, Sadie Moran, Caroline and George Malkin, Jeremy and Sara Hoffman, Judsen and Mariana Hoffman, Renyck Hoffman, Adelyn Hoffman and Kambel Hoffman. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Henry Azank-Moran, Gabriella Hoffman and Annabel Malkin.
