Benedict Mark Samaru Rajpaul Ramesh Singh affectionately known as "Singh" or "Pedro" was born in Longdonville, Trinidad on March 2, 1946 to the late Bridgemohan Singh and the late Mahadayah Thackoordeen he was their youngest son.
Benedict made the journey to the United States at the young age of 17 and attended aviation school. He began working as a night watchman at the Hebrew Home in Riverdale, NY he also worked for Arnold Bakery and was a NYC taxi driver part time for a number of years. In 1976 he started his career with Metro North Railroad in North White Plains, NY as a Safety Inspector Engineer and held a position as a Union Representative. In 1984 Benedict made a lifelong dream come true. He started his own business and opened "International Tire Shop" in Bronx, NY. He worked for Metro North for 26 years and retired in 2002. The "International Tire Shop" was successfully in business for 15 years. He was very passionate about fixing cars and enjoyed doing what he loved. He established lifelong friendships with the people he met and employed at the shop.

Anyone who knows "Singh" knows that when he's in the room you are guaranteed a laugh so hard that it will make you cry. He enjoyed a party and spending time with family and friends, he enjoyed dancing and living life. He always knew how to enjoy and make a party a good one.

Culture and tradition were very important to Singh. As a practicing Hindu he devoted himself to trying to live a harmonious life and encouraged others to do the same. Enjoying life and being happy have been very important aspects of his life. He always says, "your destiny is already written. It's up to you to make the most of your life so enjoy it!"

On Wednesday, November 18, 2015 he departed this life leaving to survive his 5 children, Daughter Michelle Singh of Hoover, Alabama, Daughter Sandra Singh of Griffin, Georgia, (Mother, Emerida Rodriguez -former Wife) Son Samaru Lugo of McDonough, Georgia (Mother-Gladys Lugo), Daughter Shamara Singh of White Plains, NY, Son Sanjay Singh of Greenburgh, NY (Mother, Sandra Singh -former Wife). 9 Grandchildren, Stanford Phillips, Emerald Cullins, Emerida Hammond, Zachary Hammond, Prinsa Saucedo, Jennifer Saucedo, Francisco Lugo, Julissa Lugo and Samuel Lugo. 8 Great grandchildren. Brother Soogrim Ramoutar (Savi) of Trinidad, Sister Joyce Spence (Mervin) of Birmingham, England. Sisters Savitri and Bissoondai of Trinidad. 44 Nieces and Nephews including special nieces Lily, Pearl, Alice, and Lolly and special Nephews Rawle, Francis, and Harry. Goddaughter Suggie. Lifetime best friend Edward Brownfield of Alabama. He is predeceased by Brothers Kunghbeharry Singh, Balkisoon Ramoutar and Sister Dulce Alexander.
