Barry Paley, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and true lover of life, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at the age of 80. At the center of Barry’s life was his family highlighted by his marriage to his high school sweetheart, Susan (Kaminer). For 58 years they shared a true partnership defined by love, loyalty and unwavering support for one another. Together they raised two sons, Douglas and Michael, who he could not have been prouder of. Perhaps Barry’s greatest joy came in his role as Papa to his four grandchildren – Charlotte, Simon, Leah, and Alexa. Nothing brought him more happiness than the time he spent with all the “grands” together and he was always the first to call (usually seconds) after a race or competition to tell them how excited he was and how amazing they were.

Born in 1945 and raised on Creston Avenue in the Bronx, New York, the son of Lester and May and brother to Susan (not his wife), Barry was a gifted student in math and the sciences (not so much in language arts) and was a proud graduate of Bronx High School of Science. He continued his education at Temple University and then the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He graduated Penn Dental as Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry and for more than 45 years was a community-based dentist in Port Chester, New York. Over the course of that time, Barry built more than a successful dental practice, he cultivated deep relationships with many of his patients and always seemed to enjoy learning about their lives even more than successfully taking care of their teeth.

Outside of work and family, Barry had many passions and pursued them with vigor and zeal. An avid skier, he cherished every minute he spent on the slopes of Stratton Mountain; however, the ski report from Barry always demanded fact checking as he never encountered a day where the conditions weren’t great. He was also a passionate art collector, drawn particularly to photorealism and ‘80s neoexpressionist painters. Barry loved to play golf, watch NY sports (particularly the Yankees and Rangers), read, and was extremely skilled at bridge. With Susan by his side, he traveled the world including to Antarctica, drank great wine, drove like a NYC cab driver, and developed a collection of amazing friends, who extolled his generosity, kindness and humor.

Barry never complained except when it came to hotel rooms, was a connector of people and had a true passion for life. He lived fully, vibrantly and on his own terms.

His legacy lives on in the family he adored – Susan, Michael, Nancy, Douglas, Charlotte, Simon, Leah and Alexa – the friendships he nurtured and the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and remembered forever.
