Barbara Schottenfeld

Barbara Schottenfeld, a trailblazing businesswoman, devoted matriarch, and beloved icon of the carpet and design industry, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, at the age of 97.

​Born on October 7, 1928, just prior to the Great Depression, Barbara grew up with an enduring resilience and an unwavering belief that "everything would be okay"-a philosophy that guided her throughout her remarkably vibrant life.

​A proud graduate of Brooklyn College, at a time when few women attended university, Barbara was a lifelong pioneer. Alongside her beloved late husband, Marvin, she co-owned Floors Beautiful, building a beautiful family, a lifelong romance, and a highly successful business. A founding member and eventual president of the International Design Guild, Barbara helped guide the company to its landmark 100th anniversary before finally retiring at the age of 91.

​Independent, sharp, and active until her final days, she was affectionately regarded as the absolute Queen of her family.

​She is survived by her loving son, Rick, and his wife, Robin; her devoted daughter, Beth Juster, and her husband, Howard; and her four cherished grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Jason, and Max, who will forever carry on her legacy of strength, warmth, and love.
