Barbara Belle Friedman (née Balbinder)
Barbara Belle Friedman, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away peacefully at her home in Sun City, AZ. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, to Arthur Balbinder and Bessie Solomon and spent most of her life there, aside from a few childhood years in Philadelphia. Barbara and her late husband, Lawrence Friedman spent their retirement years in Nova Scotia, Canada.
Barbara was a dedicated nurse whose long career spanned many different settings, reflecting her deep commitment to caring for others. Beyond her professional life, she was a talented artist who loved working with clay and beads, crafting beautiful pottery and jewelry that brought joy to those around her.
Barbara's greatest joy was her family. She delighted in spending time with her children, Esther and Kathryn, and her grandchildren, Emma and Mark. She cherished making crafts and baking with them when they were young, and as they grew, she loved hearing about their lives and sharing in their interests. Barbara was devoted to maintaining close family ties, always remembering to send cards for birthdays and holidays, and staying connected by phone.
Barbara also loved the outdoors. Gardening and birdwatching were two of her favorite pastimes, and she especially enjoyed sharing these activities with her family. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, creativity, and a deep love for family that will be cherished by all who knew her.
Barbara is survived by her brother Donald Balbinder, daughters Esther Colbran and Kathryn Friedman, and her grandchildren, Emma Cantlay and Mark Colbran.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Barbara's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
