Aurelie Cavallaro

June 3, 1939 — January 1, 2023

Armonk, NY

Brooklyn born and bred, Aurelie decided not to pursue a career as a teacher in New York City Public Schools, but instead followed her interest in fashion to become a buyer and merchandise manager. After a long and successful career, she came full circle to become a professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology. As a world traveler, Aurelie traveled not only for business but for pleasure. One of her most memorable trips was to Tuscany with her family. She loved theater, the arts, and most especially, the ballet. When she retired, she volunteered at the NYC ballet where she cultivated lasting friendships. Aurelie loved animals, having a cat, and a couple of dogs; but she would characterize herself as a "dog person". She had a big heart, loved people, and was always supportive and ready to help others. In her last months, she lived at the Bristal in Armonk, close to her family, where she was honored as resident of the month in December. She is survived by her sister, Valerie J. Cavallaro, brother-in-law, Tom Stramaglia, her niece, whom she loved beyond measure, Joy Cavallaro-Stramaglia, her husband, Michael J. Fouassier and their son, Matthew C-S Fouassier.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 4, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St Patrick RC Church , 29 Cox Avenue, Armonk, New York 10504. Interment will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY.
