Antonio Martino, 88, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024 at Schervier Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. He was born on July 18, 1936 in San Sosti, Italy, to Ciriaco and Francesca Martino. Antonio came to New York in 1956 and then returned to Italy for one year to serve in the Italian Selective Service at the age of 22. Shortly after his return he met Evelina Notari and they were married on July 8, 1962. They had four children: Franca, Sandra, Evelyn, and Anthony.
Antonio worked as a cabinetmaker and started his apprenticeship at age 9. He became a highly skilled craftsman and eventually retired at age 62. He created cabinetry for many high profile companies including Tiffany's.
He was without a doubt a loving family man who was very proud of his Italian heritage. He loved to make his own wine and soppresatta. Antonio loved family meals, especially when his grandchildren were with him. He was survived by his children Franca, Sandra, Evelyn and Anthony, his sons - in- law and daughter-in-law Joseph, Sandra, and James, as well as his siblings Rosina and Pasquale. He will live in the hearts of his grandchildren Danielle, Anthony, Alessandra, Christian, Alessia, Anthony, Anthony, Ava, James, Julia, and Sienna.
Antonio will be missed and remembered for his warmth, passion, Italian dancing, wily smile, love of food, and most of all, his dedication to his wife, children and grandchildren. Rest in peace, Antonio.
