Anthony Vinci

Anthony (Chet) Vinci, of Hawthorne, NY, was born on December 9, 1930, in the Bronx. Chet attended DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx, where he learned his trade as a mechanic. He later served in the Korean War, repairing tanks and military vehicles, and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army on October 22, 1953.

Later in his career, Chet worked for the NYC MTA as a bus mechanic, from which he retired. He worked hard to provide for the family that he loved.

In November of 1956, he married Frances Olivo (predeceased), and together they had three daughters: Doreen Vinci, Lori Vinci (predeceased), and Toni Ann Izzo (Angelo Izzo).

Chet was also the proud grandfather of four beautiful grandchildren: Stephanie Rae Andrews (Patrick Andrews), Dayna Schor, Nicholas Izzo, and Nicole Izzo.

Chet had a tremendous love for traditional Italian food and wine. The moments spent sitting around the table with family and friends were some of his happiest, filled with conversation, laughter, and memories. He was also an avid lover of music from the 50s and the disco era and had an impressive collection of vinyl records and CDs.

His love for his family never faltered and he was there whenever they needed him for support. He loved to get together to celebrate birthdays and holidays, or simply Sunday dinner. As he grew older, he continued to support his family with wisdom, guidance, and a steady, gentle presence. His words and opinions carried great weight and meaning to all who listened, and all of the lessons and advice he has given his family will be remembered and passed down for generations to come.

Chet was loved by all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.
