Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Anna DiSalvo Mulee (often called Ann) was born and raised in a little hamlet named Thornwood in Westchester County, NY. As the daughter of Sicilian immigrants, she was raised in a loving, but fairly strict, household. She was expected to, and did, help with her youngest brother Peter while their mother went to work. Dating was not allowed and Ann often attended school dances with her younger brother Vinnie as her chaperone.

After graduating from high school, Ann worked briefly doing bookkeeping for Mack Trucks in White Plains, NY. About a year after graduation, however, she married Louis J. Mulee, who was from a family that Ann's father had known back in Sicily.

Ann was the consummate mother and homemaker. Always protective of her little "chicks", she made up games to play with them and was always around to soothe scraped knees and bruised egos.

Ann was also an indispensable partner in husband Lou's various endeavors. Ann helped Lou build houses, run a weekend resort in the Catskills, manage a restaurant and bar and run a delicatessen, among other things.

After her children were older, Ann took up her own vocations. She became a cake decorator in a bakery, took classes at the local SUNY school and started working again as a bookkeeper and office clerk.

But family always came first. Ann remained a fierce defender and protector of her children, nursing them through tough times and celebrating their successes. In her later years, Ann extended that same protectiveness to her grandchildren.

Ann taught her children and those around her about patience and love and that family always came first. Ann is survived by her brother Peter DiSalvo, her four children, Annette Mulee, Joseph Mulee, Tony Mulee and Michelle Mulee Glass, grandchildren Joseph Mulee II, Kara Mulee Burgess, Pamala Mulee Riess, Cristina Mulee Dorow, Jacqueline Mulee Jayan, Alexa Mulee, Samantha Seymour, James Wynne, Haylie Wynne and great grandchildren Tanner Burgess, Italy Burgess, Cohen Riess, Jack Joseph Riess, Mia Dorow, August Dorow, Leila Mulee Jayan, Zara Mulee Jayan, Cameron Seymour and Emilia Seymour, and her brothers' children PJ DiSalvo, Don DiSalvo, Mary Robin Mazullo, and Anthony DiSalvo.

The services will take place at the Ballard-Durand Funeral Home (formerly Hawthorne Funeral Home) at 21 W. Stevens Ave. Hawthorne, NY on Saturday, June 20, 2026. Viewing will be from 9-10:30 am at the funeral home. Mass and entombment will be at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery immediately following the viewing.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make donations to the Alzheimer's Association , www.alz.org in memory of Ann.
